Ogden Gleans No LeadsIn $3*250 Store TheftSpecial tc- The TribuneOGDEN — Police said Tuesday they still had no solid leads in the theft of more than $3,000 from a desk drawer in the office of the American Food Store at 2nd Street and Harrison Boulevard Monday' evening, %A CHECK BY the manage* ment disclosed that the amount missing is $3,249.95, in coin and small bills of $1 to $20 denominations.Store Manager Delos Bingham told police the money had been placed beneath a coin box in the desk at about 6:45 p.m. It was gone when Mack Losser, assistant manager, went to get gome change about 7:25 p.m. for use at one of the check stands.THE DESK drawer was unDeath ClaimsUtah’s ’55Tonnthf»rlocked but closed. Entry had not been made by force,Ogden Police Department detectives assigned to the case said a key to the back door of the store also would open the desk. It was hanging in the office.STORE EMPLOYES said they saw a stranger standing near the office door some time before the loss was discovered.Detectives Tuesday also planned to check out new leads with Salt Lake police Wednesday, in the attempted holdup Friday of the American Food Store at 26th Street and Quincy Avenue.LT. LeROY Jacobsen, chief of the detective division, said Ogden officers have cleared four % suspects in the 8 a.m. holdup attempt. Two gunmen held six persons hostage for a short time but failed in their attempt to open the store's safe.Two men were slugged, and another was grazed by a bullet from a gun carried by one of the bandits.
