Centre County TrustyWalks Out Of JailBELLEFONTE, OP)—Sher-iff John Galaida reported that Charles McCartney, 49, of Snow Shoe, a trusty, walked out of the Centre County Jail last cvr ling after he had been sent down to tend the furnace.McCartney took along his hat, coat and toilet articles, the sheriff said. He was to have been taken to the Western Penitentiary at Pittsburgh to serve the major portion of his six to 15-year term On a charge of arson. At his request, he had been kept in the Centre County prison temporarily because of his mother’s recent injury in an automobile accident.The sheriff was in Pittsburgh on anther mission at the time of McCartney’s escape.
