U L tilt JcgiDia-iLiic,The Temperance Movement,There 3» already a large number of counties which have local option The temperance movement has a gtrong following in -yie state, and It is expected that this movement will be ft substantial factor in the next state campaign- Hereto fore the negro vote has been almost solidly cast against the temperance movement, but with this eliminated the friends of temperance are encouraged to make a strong fight against the whisky traffic.The Woman's Christian Temperance Union, which has done much to suppress the open saloons, is an aggressive body, and will become an Important factor in state politics In tb© coming state and eaunty elections. With the exception of five counties in th© state (Calhoun, Balias* Jefferson* Mobile and Montgomery) the friends of the temperance caus^. are hppeful of ^electing members who will be friendly to the movement.
