A Battle With Burglar*.Nine men were discovered in the act of looting a safe at Cavette, Ohio. The citizens. aroused by an explosion which the burglars had set off to open the safe, rushed to the scene, and a battle ensued. Fifty shots were exchanged, but no one was hurt. The thieves had buggies in waiting and drove away toward Lima. William Hoagland’s general store was the point of attack. The burglars secured about $500 in cash besides a lot of valuable papers. The pursuers, keeping under cover of the buildings, kept up a running fire on the gang for some distance, but without result.
