That the church desires that the law violators and the men allowing such violation witness the fact that the Herald is backed publicly now by our church body, and that as a body we are with the Herald and against tho . rum runners, until it become convenient for the latter to seek other parts in which they may engage in their damnable business.HA!“Mr. Editor we should like that resolution to be published at your convenience.”Folowing the above resolution was the following letter to the editor of the Herald from the pastor of the First M Baptist church, the Rev. Rofe Barnard. His letter reads:“The pastor of his church cannot longer refrain from expressing himself on the condition of Borger. The churches in Borger are small. No one seems to know there are churches in the city. Therefore the churches have not been able to exert any appreciable influence in the matter of the wholesale traffic in liquor, dope and prostitution. Knowing this fact, the men in power at the Herald office have, in the face of death, taken up the fight that Bhould have been waged by the churches in this city. The Herald has nothing to gain by its fight. Simply is it interested in cleaning up Borger, that in the doing they may contribute their part toward serving God and man. I wish to say Mr. Editor, that as one pastor of tho city, I glory in your starit and am for you to the limit.SELECWFARMwill be Hassell, and noi his ste victims commit' miles rThis of the of Her the six night i men ho soloctci Hasslt; courtro journm Smith lt;raored.Distr second eighty Monda; tho jur day. 4 sidored tho caireconvlt;Hasstho doi The v“As one citizen, representing the Baptist people of the city, I join you Sir in demanding that the officers of our town and county clean up Borger.“There is no longer excuse for mincing words. There is no need to wonder why Borger is not being ceaned up. Three officers, including tho chief of police, who aro worth their salt can, without State or Federal aid, clean up Borger in less time than it will take to get outside help on the ground.“Brogor is going to be cloaned up, despite the opinions to tho contrary.“It is up to our officials hero, as to who Is to do the cleaning.“I join you Sir in appealing to the hotter element in the city to come out in the open and let the booze runners know just where they stand.“Again may I thank you for your work and express the hope and belief that you will not let up until results are gotten.“Respectfully, “ROLFE BARNARD.”thrnn m
