!A bullet from the rifle of Patrolman Pablo Lujan, of the Albuquerque police force, ended the mad career of Jim V\ illiams, nejrro bootblack, after he had been brought to bay in a swamp three-quarters of a mile northeast of Islet* yesterday morninK by a posse of Albuquerque officers. The posse rushed to Islet a on receipt of telephone messages that the negro had shot Deputy Sheriff Luis Abeyta and escaped. The wounded man was brought to St. Joseph’s hospital.Late last night Dr. W. R, Lovelace, attending physician, said that both Abeyta and Lawrence Mackev, the first victim of the negro, have a chance for recovery.
