The posse rushed to Isleta on receipt of telephono messages that the negro had shot Deputy Sheriff Luis Abeyta and escaped. The wounded man was brought to St. Joseph’s hospital.Late la^t night Dr. W. R. Lovelace, attending physician, said that both Abeyta and Lawrence Mackey, the first victim of the negro, have a chance for recovery.
