It was known to butvery few that be was to be sentenced this Jlooming, consequently the Court roomwas rather bare of spectators.Hickman preceded the Sheriff into theCourt-room, walking with a quick elastictread, and passing inside the bar, look bisseat on a chair at the corner of one of the tables. He was dressed the sume a* during the trial, his face was fresh shaved,bis hair oiled and carefully Coiubed,and he 1looked as pe t and nonchalant, as if befthad just got ready to “ go to town.After the routine business of the Courthad been disposed of, Judge Stanfieldlasked Hickman if be bad any thing to say,1.Hickman uncrossed hit legs,briskly from bts chair, and ejecting a mouthful of tobaico juice into one of theapiUooos* answered:** Nomine at all.
