I__* . f l.--t n*/A1975 Chaves County United Way Campaign as UW checked by Bill Ague, presiMinister bound overA 25-year-old Artesia minister accused of abducting a 14-year-old Roswell girl was bound over to District Court today on charges of aggravated assault, kidnapping end assault with the intent to commit rape.Michael R. Thomasson, founder and pastor of the Faith Baptist Church of Artesia, remained in the County Jail here on a $10,000 bond after a preliminary hearing before Magistrate L.O. “Tommy” Thompson. He will be arraigned in Fifth Judicial District Court at 1:30 p.m. Monday.In the hearing, Renee Poteet, 14, 1109 W. Deming St., testified she was returning home from school Dec. 19, 1975 when a man in a white Mustang stopped and pointed a gun at her, ordering her into the car.She testified the gun went off after she got in the car, after which she was driven to Bottomless Lakes State Park.She said she was bound and gagged with white adhesive tape and partially disrobed. The man then put her clothes back on and drove her to within two blocks of her home.She identified Thomasson as her abductor.Police officers testified they traced Thomasson through a key ring which Miss Poteet remembered seeing.The key ring had the name “Bob Ferguson” on it, and police contactedthe insurance agency owned by Lt. Gov. Robert E “Bob” Ferguson and found the agency carried a policy on a vehicle matching the descriptiongiven by the victim.Police located the vehicle, which was registered to Thomasson. in Artesia and conducted a search, finding articles which Miss Poteet said she remembered seeing in the vehicle, including a name tag with the names “Mike and Barbara” on it and a Bible on the dash board.Police also discovered a chrome-plated revolver in the car.■drPublish Dec. 23, 30,1975, Jan. 6,1976 Notice is hereby Qiven that on December 11, 1975.
