Hite, 40 charged with using the mails to defraud in j swindling a Xixa. Mo., bank and the Arkansas Xational Bank at Hot Springs, Ark., of $17,200.I The alleged swindler . gained the [confidence of bankers in both; j towns by setting himself up as an j insurance and real estate broker jand maintaining smal accounts ini banks at Springfield and Carthage, ■ Mo., on which he cashed small checks. Finally, it is believed, hedeposited drafts for $0,700 with the Hot Springs Bank and $7,500 with the Xixa Bank and was gone before word was received from the Springfield and Carthage banks that I he had no money w ith them to I cover the drafts.
