I to!grate C. Harley.• tMore Damaging EvidenceAgainst Luce and Thompson.Later developments in the case of Luce and Thompson show that they hadbeen operating in a high handed manner prior to their arrest for passing counterfeit money. Some time before Christmas they got hold of John Waehter, a German, ofAuglaize township, Paulding county, and practically robbed him of *10. They were in the back end of the room at Hughes Seible’s place in this city and Waehter claims they forced him to sign one of the “green good s oaths,” a copy of which was submitted to the readersof the Daily Express Monday. Waehter says they pulled a gun on him and literally held him up for the $10. After the oath had been signed Luce wrote a letter, enclosed the oath and mailed it to some one in Cincinnati. Waehter went with the men to the postoffice and saw them mail the letter.(n Christmas day Luce and Thomp son again got Waehter in town and forced him to pay them $5 more, al-though’the amount they wanted was $50. Waehter is a man without much force and the money taken from him was really a highway robbery act.Deputy United States marshal Jack Shannon and the secret service man, John Webb, of Toledo, left for Paulding today where it is thought they will arrest a man by the name of Hoag, who is believed to be one of the main men in the gang of which Luce and Thompson belong. Hoag was under arrest Saturday but was allowed to go. The officers seem to think they have things in shape to run a bad gang to earth.
