Hews DigestFigures show rise in child homicidesCONCORD (AP) - The number of homicides in New Hampshire increased by one to 18 last year over 2000, most of them involving domestic disputes.The attorney general’s office began releasing the annual statistics in 1990. Since then, 1991 was the year with the most homicides - 34- and 1998 had the fewest - 15.Prosecutors said there has been an increase in young children being killed, particularly infants.The crime rate remains fairly low, said Senior Assistant AttorneyGeneral Kelly Ayotte.The year’s unsolved killings include the stabbing death of Canadian hiker Louise Chaput on Mount Washington in November, the fatal shooting of pawn shop owner Louis Jodoin in his Auburn home last week and the death of 3-month-old Jeffrey Trudeau in Dover.
