Daws against Mrs. Caroline D. Holloy, docketed some time ago for the January term of court, was received here this morning from Douglas Pattison. of Freeport, attorney for the complainant, the latter being : a resident of Lena, 111. Attorney |Louis II. Burrell, of Freeport, is as-jsociated with Mr. Pattison in the[case.| The declaration states that the ground for the suit, which is a slander action, is a remark alleged io I have been made by Mrs. Holley at ;San Diego, Calif., in March of 191(1 ,in the presence of at least three wit-[nesses to the effect that Daws was ; responsible for the death of tleorge M. Holloy, husband of Caroliuo and ! father of Mrs. Daws, j Mr. Daws in his declaration avers that the charge made by Mrs. Holloy is without foundation in fact, that the charge has done irreparable damage to his reputation in the community and ho asks $20,000 from the defendant as partial remuneration for the harm alleged to have resulted from her public insinuations.Freeport—George M. Holley, or Myron Holloy as he was generally known, was lor many years a resident of Lena, ill , and was in the agricultural implement business there, for a long time. He was reputed to have considerable wealth. He served as j member of tho republican county |central committee from West Point township for many years and also held elective offices in that township, j serving several terms as tax collector. Mrs. Daws was the only daughter of Mr. Holley, and Mrs. Caroline Holley is her step-moiher. A suit is now pending m the circuit court of Stephenson county, brought by Mrs Daws against Mrs. Holley in an at tempt to set aside tho will of Mr. Holley, who left the bulk of his estate to his second wife.
