George Clifford, aged 20, hailing4 .from Pike county, gave the citizens of East Mt. Carmel a touch of real western life yesterday evening. He took four shots^at his companion named Houchins, who managed to dodge the bullets and was not hurt. Clifford then snapped his revolver twice at a stranger, but the firearm was not discharged. Clifford is the son of John Clifford who resides in the edge*of Pike county northeast of Oak-land City. He went over to East Mt. Carmel a day or two ago to visit the family of Dora Houchins and spent the holidays there. It is stated that he and young Houchins were in Mt. Carmel yesterday and Clifford became intoxicated. It was while in this condition that he fired the shots at his companion. Sheriff Prank Whiting has been notified of the affair, but it may be that no arrest will be made as the Houchins and Cliffords are related and the former do not care to prosecute.
