UU A Vi.ASSAULT ON THE POLICE.—James Ash, 25, painter, and Reuben Deamer, 29, fishmonger, were brought up on remand for having assaulted Police-con-stable s 132 J and 160 J.—The first constable was seriously injured, it being shown that his ankle was kicked, his shoulder sprained, and his eyes blackened. —Ash was sent to gaol for two months and Deamer for six weeks, with hard labour.
