The Logic of the Murder. The city of Cincinnati haa been visited with the fourth of a series of murders of mysterious character and of vicious consummation. The indications are that all, being, generally speaking, in the same section of the city, wer„ probably perpetrated by the same hand. The victims in each instance were women, the crimes were committed at about the same hour of the day, and all were of most brutal nature. It is possible, even highly probable, that the crime had been planned for many days, that the Perpetrator had gloated over his hellish work In advance and heightened his passion by many .hours of fiendish anticipation. The police officials are. of course, nonplussed in the start and hampered by lack of knowledge of the motive, though the motive is probably most apparent. The woman’s money and jewels were un. touched. Robbery, therefore, was not the motive, although the astonishing strength and determination of the victim may have startled the fiend and deterred him from his purpose. Perhaps he may have been frightened away by real or i Imaginary causes. The probability, however, is that the motive was the same as In other cases in the same locality, and that is not believed to be robbery.Should the police discover me true mo-copy.j m this case, and should It prove sim-a. m.. t0 lb® motlv« ln the other cases, neral fcht it not well to make an effort ^ - to find the seed grain of the motive and locate the boII in which it grows? It is not pleasant to live in a city where murders of the character of these, and of those occurring ln recent years ln Dayton, 0-v of a similar nature, are committed with Impunity.Would it hot be wrell to scan the literature sold and read in the city, the character of the pictures displayed In saloons, on billboards and other public places, and last, but not least ln importance, the hourg kept by irresponsible young men?Would it not be as well for the general public as well as the police to take precautions? As long as the fiend who mur-/dered Anna I.loyd la abroad the same ^ character of crime Will be repeated.* Even now,, pcrnaps, some other victim is marked. Women should not go abroad late at night without escort, and girls* ebould remain at home or have ample ,ji chaperonage. The police should be alert and dispose
