Jan. 2.—In the edgeof Perry county, where the same joins with Dubois, a squad of females waited upon tlie •’wiinmen folks of two families, carried them to a neighloring creek and gave them a thorough washing. At the same time men folks attended to the masculine members of thesame families in a similar way.The families are known as Croppy ami Sleft. and it is said that the parents have never used soap nor towel in the rearing of their families. Some of the members protested against tin* use of the mop and soap, but others rather enjoyed the ha 1. and promised to frequently wash themselves during 1 HJki. The visiting ladies carried with them a bucket tilled with strong soapsuds and a mop. and are said to have done their work well.
