Meditated Suicide.—For some time past there has been a German peddler in this section known as Jos. K. Arnold. Yesterday he went into the clothing store of II. Hinlein on Market street and indicated a desire to write a letter. He did so and left the communication, which Mr. Hinlein read after his departure. It gave a list of his effects, which he said were at Aldridge's, at the Round Corner, and requested Mr. H. to inform his relatives that the goods were there, by writing to his sister, Martha Frank,457 North street, Philadelphia, Mrs. Mary Herschburg, Baltimore, or to his brother, A. K Arnold, who some times stopped at Parkersburg. There were some rambling sentences in the letter, and as the man had acted strangely while in the store, Mr. HiDlein concluded suicide was intended, and laid the document before the Mayor. Marshal Cahill and Officer Worthington went down to his boarding place and found him out. He had also attracted attention there by his curious conduct, expressing a d* sire to die, c., and in tact bad taken a harmless preparation given by one of the men, under the belief that it would kill him. He was afterwards lound by the officers, and placed in jail for safe keeping. The roan is evidently somewhat deranged.
