|pf88§: ********It is hard to convict a woman. After voting ten to two to find Mrs. Carrie B. Quint guilty of embezzlement in connection with the Pleasant Green Bank, the jury in the case at Boonville suddenly reversed its judgment and acquitted her, probably because she was a woman. The foreman of the jury is said to have used the female argument so eloquently that the jurymen caved in before his plea.
