A preliminary investigation is pointing to the shooting as, accidental.It happened Friday just after 10 p.m.Alamogordo Department of Public Safety Lt. Jim Bird said a 30 caliber rifle was taken from a gun cabinet in the home at 703 PanoramaBird said the girl received a single gunshot wound to the arm and was taken to Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center where she underwent surgery and is in good condition.The parents of the children were not home at the time, but a grandfather who is bed-ridden, was home Bird said.In an unrelated matter, DPS is also looking for James McCul-ley, 38, of 1111 Puerto Rico. Police said he might be charged with battery on household member, a third degree felony.Anyone with information on McCulley’s whereabouts is asked to call DPS at 439-43(X).
