A large detail of customs inspectors is guarding the alleged rum-running schooner Grace Ruby, which was seized in the bay off Bakers Island Thursday morning by the Coast Guard j cutter Tampa and is now moored along-I side the appraisers’ stores, .just below i the Northern-av bridge. Persons going, to and from South Boston get a good view of the vessel which, it is alleged, attempted to smuggle one of the largest shipments of contraband liquor brought | to this country since the Volstead act became a law.According to the ship's manifest, the schooner originally had more than 100,000 | quarts of whisky and other liquors.Under a strong guard, the transfer of the whisky from the schooner to the I appraisers’ stores began yesterday, and ; before dark about two-thirds of the en-I tire amount had been taken out. The balance will be unloaded today.
