MORE TROUBLE IN CENTRAL ILLINOISTen Mon At Noknjnis Dragged From Howes and Forced to Kiss the American Flag.Nokomis, 111., Feb. 25—Trouble bordering on a riot was started here when a mob of “loyalists” visited homes of Herman sympathizers to enforce pledges of loyalty. Ten men were dragged from their homes and forced to kneel and kiss the American flag.A general fight began when Fnlk-ert Wolff, 57 years old, a wealthy German farmer, was seized. He was accused of having made disloyal remarks. He was taken to the post-office and forced to kiss the flag.After being released lie started to return Homo, but as he departed made some slurring remarks about the men in the crowd. This angered the mob and a free for all fight followed. Tn the melee several friends of Wolff were badly beaten.Wolff was chased to his borne, taken back to the postoffice, and made to kiss the flag a second time. Another section made a roundup of Gorman homes and forced every known German sympathizer to kneel and kiss the flag.The mob did its work in one partof town while the other section staged a farewell party for drafted men soon to go to camp. Nokomis is the home of Severino Oberdan, who was tarred and feathered at Staunton. .
