NOT GUILTY.• iTom Davis Acquitted of Manslaughter.He Shot and KilUd John Dennigan at Loogootee La t August—Bullet intended for Another.Thomas Davis, a farmer Loogootee saloonkeeper who last August shot at Martiu Patterson and accidentally killed John Dennigan, was aqnitted of manslaughter in the Martin circuitcourt Wednesday. The jury was out several hours.Thomas Davis shot and killed John Dennigan in Michael Smith’s solo on, south of the railroad track in Loogootee, on August 18th, 1904 The bullet that killed Dennigan was intended for Martin Patterson, a young man nineteen years of age and was the outgrowth of a quarrel and fight earlier in the day.On that night Patterson and several others were in Smith’s saloon engaged in a game of cards when Davis made some remark to Patterson about the lat-ter’s desire to “butt in” where he was not wanted and several blows were exchanged between them. Davis drew a revolver and Patterson ran. Just as he passed through the screens John Dennigan, a young man twenty-tightyears of age entered the saloon. Davis pulled the trigger of the revolver and the bullet struck Dennigan in the center of the breast. He ran forward, clutched the counter and fell dead.
