BURGLARS BECOMING BOLDEREAST NEWARK PLACESNewark’s efficient buiglars got itt another splendid night’s work between the hours of 6 o'clock Friday night and the same hour Saturday-morning. when two places in Bast Newark were entered and a large quantity of goods taken. The first robbery was that of the Fred Lisey home, 59 North Morris street and the second was that of the Mossholder JRemhart saloon in the New Armory building just east of the Mam street bridge. At the I»isey home it is impossible to state what was taken as the Li-sey family is now visiting in the Isle of Pines and will not return until after March 1. At the saloon-the burglars got enough wine, whiskey, tobacco and cigars to keep them supplied for many weeks unless they engage m one mighty big jag. Both burglaries weie discovered this morning. Mr. Sachs, a son-in-law of Mr L4sey, discovered the burglary at the Lisey home when he went to the house this morning He discovered that a rear window bad been forced open with a “jimmy” An investigation revealed the fact that the interior of the home had been ransacked from top to bottom. The burglars forced every door which resisted their advance and broke open desks, dresser draweis and every possible place that might conceal something of valueIt is impossible to state whether anything was taken as tho family is away, but it is believed, however, the thieves got enough to pay them for their troubleAv kitchen table was in front of the window through which the burglars gained entrance and this table was bioken. down in some-tnanner_ by the burglarsAt the Mossholder Reinhart saloon the burglars used a “jimmy made of a brake-shoe lock, forcing the lock on an east window. The robbers leisurely went over the stock of liquors and tobaccos in the place and selected the choicest in the stock. An inventory this morning enabled the proprietors to give a fairly complete list and description of the stolen goods Nineteen or twenty quarts of whiskey, several bottles of wme, lour boxes of cigars, a large quantity of chewing and {smoking tobacco makes up the partial list of the plunder. The discovery was made this morning by Art Bechman when he opened the place about 5 o’clock and he immediately notified the police department who conducted an investigation. The “jimmy” was taken in charge by an officer and they are now working on several clues. The Lisey burglary was reported soon afterwards and the officers also investigated this crime and are working on the theory that they were committed by the same parties. These two burglaries are the latest of a series of jobs of a similar nature many of which have never been made public, following the policy of the department to cover up the jobs and keep the information from the newspapers.
