'Milltown woman dies in chaseMARENGO, Ind (AP) — A 22year-old woman died Saturday when she crashed her car Into two trees at the conclusion of a police chase in Crawford County, state police said.Cassandra Lee of Mtlltown died at the scene of massive injuries, said Sgt Jim Qualkenbush of the Jasper state police post.Marengo Town Marshal Richard .Lester had stopped another driver in the town when his attention was drawn to Lee’s vehicle being driven recklessly.Lester began pursuing Lee's car, which led the marshal on a brief chase south of the town on Indiana 66, onto rural roads and then back onto the highway before the 4:50 a.m. crash about two miles south of Marengo, Qualkenbush said.Lee’s car slid 140 feet off the highway, glanced off a tree and then wrapped around a second tree, Qualkenbush said.Investigators did not know what prompted Lee to flee the marshal.“We don’t have any idea what the thinking was at the time,’’ Qualkenbush said.
