Shooting at CafeLast Sunday NightAbout 12 o’clock last Sunday night John S lomon was shotand instantly killed in Roy’sCafe. A coronor’s jury was calledand a verdict was brought inholding Dan Lowden 33 an Os*cura ranchman responsible for his death. Solomon who was 22years old had only recently returned from Texas where he hadbeen a peace officer.Lowden was taken to jail andAssistant District Attorney C. V. Clayton of Tularrsa came up last Monday to investigate the shoot-ing. When arraigned, Lowden pleaded not guiitv and was bound over to the district court afterwaiving his preliminary hearing. The Court fixed his bond at $10,-000. which to date he has beenunable to make. It is alleged that Lowden shot Solomon whenthe latter tried to remove himfrom the Cafe, for alleged loudand unseemly conduct. One shotstruck Solomon in the left armwhich by the way was his gunarm. as three of the fingers hadbeen shot from his right handover a year ago. l i e other shot entered his back, ranging up thr-ugh hts heart, the bulletlodging just above the left breast.F ur sbois went wild one goiny throuy h the walls into the wesi- !ern Union office.Roy Skinner, owner of thecafe was asleep in a back room,and members of the night shiftwitnessed only part of the affrayBoth men were rntrried. Solomon is surviyed by his widowand an infant daughter H sfuneral was held at White Oaks *last Wednesdiy a iurnoon at 21 1o’clock with the Rev. John LdLawson in charge Intermentowis in the White Q»ks cemetery.
