In ibe southern pert of Kanawha county, were horn to-day and told of a most brutal whipping they received last Thursday by White Caps of that region. It seems that the While Caps went to the houses of Williams and Turley late at nlfbt, called the men out, tied them up and whipped them nil their back9 were raw and bleading. It seems that the region of Briar creek is infested with a gang of Umber thieves, counterfeiters and genera! outlaws. Williams and Turley wore not of them. Two men cama to Williams aud Turley recently, disguised, and represented themselves as railed States deputy marshal* and atlfed them for Information about the counterfeiters Williams aud Turley told them all they knew but afterwards found out that the deputy marshals were bogus, that they were from among the counterfeiters thern-selves, and only wanted to ascertain what Williams and Turley knew aud whether they would inform on them, aud the purpose of the whipping is supposed to be to drive them from the county. The matte* was reported to Stales Attorney C. R Smith and warrants were sworn out this afternoon for Henry H. M’Cann. Cba*. M’Caun. Geo. Bose, Cbas. Chapman, Ben Hudson, Kelly Stover, Selby Stover, Peter Pauley, Geo* Turley. John George, Maion MidkIf?. Winfrey Midkiff, John Brogan aud John Parsons.
