(AP) — A former social worker acquitted of setting bombs in bathrooms at a mental hospital now stands accused of terrorizing colleagues to protest the firing of several of the hospital’s nurses.John Morey of Nanty Glo, Cambria County, is accused of shooting at cars with a pellet gun, sending threatening cards and cutting the brake lines of his boss’s car.District Justice Art Cook issued a warrant for Morey’s arrest on Tuesday.The incidents happened two years ago, at about the same time as two bombs went off in bathrooms at the ^ hospital. In October 1994, Morey, who said he left the facility about 20 minutes before the bombs went off, was acquitted of setting the bombs.No one was hurt, and the 33-year-oid man caiinot be tried again in that case.Last month, a Mend and former co-worker, whom police did not identify, accused Morey of setting the bombs, sending the cards, shooting at the cars and cutting the brake lines. She said she was with him when he created the cards on a machine at a card shop.The nurses were fired Jan. 18, 1994, after an internal investigationinto misconduct at the state hospital. Authorities said they think Morey, who called himself “The Godfather of the Family,” believed the nurses • were his family.They said he tried to intimidate workers who testified against thenurses in the inquiry.The cards, signed “The Godfather of the Family,” read “111 have to kill you” and “Pm going to be your worst nightmare,” police said.They said he cut the brake line on a car owned by Rita Zimmerman, an administrator at the hospital.Morey has been charged with multiple counts of harassment by communications, harassment and stalking, retaliation against victims or witnesses and criminal mischief.
