TERRIBLE CRIHEOf Wm, Robtnion Upon Little May belt e Frati-cl«co, aged Thirteen.We ate pained to record the most flagrant and debauching crime that has ever been committed in Hardin county. All the blood spilled by the Rainsbargers does not cry out so loudly as cloe3 the trammeled virtue of th’s innocent child. Wm. F. Bobinsonwas arrested at Secor Monday evening on Information filed before Mayor Moir reciting as follows: Bobinson is accused of carnally knowing andabusing Maybelle 0. Francisco, daughter of H. S, Francisco, on the day of June 1 1894. The child is still under 13 years of age and the age of consent in Iowa is 13 years. The penalty for the crime, if proven, by section 3861 of the code, is life sentence in the penitentiary. The crime was pro* sumabiy committed during Robinson's employment in the Francisco family. Robinson was married January 51, 1895, to Miss Sylvia Maciole, Rev. J. H. Blake performing the ceremony. The license states hia age 22 years and her age 18. JE. L. Clinkenbenrd signed the license as witness. The crime is doubled by this erection of a home on the pretensive basis of purity. It is too heinous for detailed comment We can only ask and hope that the law may avenge the wrong. It is another prayer to raise the age of consent by law to at least 16 years. It urges parents to more closely advise their children and guard the home. Bobinson was arraigned Wednesday and given n hearing before mayor Moir, and hold to the grandjury in sum of $1,000, in default of which he went to jail.
