Milks Citv, Feb. 30.-(Special to the independent |—At Miles City last summer Charles Cotter and Lottie Schrceder were arrested upou the criminal charge of setting (ire to certain buildings owned by them here. An examination was held in the Probate Court and the parties bound over for the action of the grand jury, which soon after convened and found true bills against each defendant The case then came up llefore Judge Bach, but the jury failed to convict After the release of the parties in this case they immediately began a suit against the companies for damages indicted by the Are. It was found that the expense oftaking a change of venue from the countywould be very great, and in any event would he borne by the companies, therefore a compromise has been effected, the companies paying the sum of $900 in liquidation of the claim.
