When They Try to Collect a NoteFrom Him.Mat Wiilihers iwent out to the bome of Sanders Sancho, a negro, to collect a note. The negro waited until he got the drop on Withers when he pulled' a six-shooter and made Withers drop the note which the negro secured and then promptly refused to pay. Withers got the negro to go to Holdenvillp where they were to make an agreement and Withers told the police to arrest Sancho. The latter took several shots at the policeman and made his escape.Then Withers was sworn In as a deputy sheriff and 'with a possce went out to Sancho’s home, but tho negro had gone inside, barred ♦he door and refused to come out. .T. W. Tucker and Withers were both shot by the negro, the latter through the shoulder. When the negro came out !he was over-powered by a third deputy, who promised him protection. Withers was paralyzed by the bullet in his shoulder and had dropped his gun. When the negro came out he begged 'his possemen to give him his gun so that he could kill Sancho, \ but they refused. The Uegro was! taken to .iail ab Wewoka and is i held awaiting the result of the i wounds of Withers and Tucker.
