J. Knight's Grocery in Bremen, and the flim-flam theft from an elderly Vinemont woman.Charged with robbing Holly Pond businessman Roy Shaw of approximately $50,000 was John Henry Wade. 50. owner of an Oakman cafe in Walker County.Investigators Joe Robertson and I^arry “Crash” Waldrop arrested James Windsor, 28, and his wife Brenda. 24, yesterday on grand larceny charges resulting from the Dec. 20 flim-flam theft from Myrtle West of Vinemont.After a scrappy store owner slapped a man who attempted to rob his grocery. Sheriffdeputies apprehended , late yesterday afternoon John Jacy Bailey. 20, Jasper Rt.1. He was charged with assault with intent to rob.Investigator Javon Daniel and Alabama Bureau of Investigation lt;ABI) Sgt. Bob Hancock, with assistance from Walker County Sheriff Jack Trotter, arrested Wade late Wednesday following a two-day probe into the Monday armed robbery at Shaw’s home.Two men, posing as special investigators, entered the home Monday morning and took the money at gunpoint. After threatening the Shaws. the two left in a late model pickup.A small amount of money has been recovered thus far, the investigator said.No bond had been set as of press time last night.Robertson and Waldrop arrested the Windsor couple yesterday morning after a two-and-one-half month, three-county probe into the alleged flim-flam of Ms West.The officers said the Windsors and another man entered theworkers,“They pretended that they wanted to count her money and see if they could get a federal check begun for her,” Waldrop explained.The culprits said they would try to get her a supplemental check to help her pay for a maid. Waldrop said.The trio counted the woman s savings. $2,900. one slammed her on the head with a briefcase, and fled. She was notnot been recovered.Bond was set at $5,000 each. The couple's current address was given as Center Point in Jefferson County. Both have lived in Cullman County.Pretending he did not hear a stick-up man utter a command, gritty store owner J. J. Knight leaned forward to ask the bandit .to repeat his statement. When the man did, Knight slapped the robber across the face, Rohertson related.The would-be robber fled.with Knight firing a pistol at Che speeding pickup truck the man was driving Robertson, Deputy Gary White, City Detective Church Gorman, ABC Agent Carl Brock, and AB1 Sgt. Johnny Nesmith participated in the hunt, which ended four hours after the 12:30 p.m incident.No bond had been set at press time for Bailey, who was captured in Walker County.ABC Agents F. H.
