The telegram says that Stantz formerly resided in Canton. A search of the city -directories did not; reveal his name, but relatives of the J man were found in Canton. The Davenport woman, it is * alleged, enticed Scott, who had a wife and two daughters at hi3 home, to run k L away with her and by an arrangement'1 between the woman and her husband, *■* the latter suddenly made the discov- * r ery that they had been occupying the1 same room at a New Philadelphia s o- ( tel. The husband complained that Seotfc had alienated the affections of 3 his wife and demanded a cash settle- 1* ment, asking for $3,500, knowing that Seott possessed the money. It was ! finally agreed to settle the matter fora $1,700, and after getting the money ' r Stantz and his wife suddenly left. Then the Canton officers took a hand in* the case and placed Scott under arrest m at Midvale, and brought him to Canton.■ He still had in his possession $15,410..; This money was in cash and while la Scott was being held as a prisoner his* wife and hia daughters appeared in 1 * Canton. He gave them all of themoney, his wife giving him backj enough to take him to his relatives in 1 3~ Tuscarawas county. Just a few weeks :a ago Mrs. Seott wa3 granted a divorce 31 from her husband on account of this 1 * escapade.
