The woman, according to the officers, is none other than the notorious Kitty Davenport.At the time mentioned a man named William cott, living a few miles south of Massillon, was fleeced out of $1,700 by them in a clever manner and then they suddenly left for the West and this is the ITrst heard of them since. The Davenport woman, it is alleged, enticed Scott, who had a wife and two daughters at his home, to run away with her and by an arrangement between the woman and her husband, the latter suddenly made the discovery that they had been occupying th*1 same room at a New Philadelphia tel. The husband complained that Scott had alienated tbe affections of his wife and demanded a cash settlement, asking for $2,500, knowing that Scott possessed the money. It was finally agreed to settle the matter for $1,700, and after getting the money Stantz and his wife suddenly left. Then the Canton officers took a hand in the case and placed Scott under arrest at Midvale, and brought him to Canton.He still had in his possession $3,410. This money was in cash and while Scott was being held as a prisoner his wife and his daughters appeared in Canton. He gave them all of the money, his wife giving him back
