Investigators continue to gather clues about victimFingerprintsretrievedfrom bodyBy SUSAN JAKOBSENStaff WriterComal County investigators obtained from the Travis County medical examiners office late Tuesday fingerprints from the body of a female found near Roadrunner Way last week.Criminal investigators will compare the fingerprints with a slew of nationwide missing person reports. In addition, other evidence found on or near the body might provide valuable identification links, according to sheriffs officials.The female had been dead for a maximum of two weeks when she was found Friday, sheriffs officials said. Roadrunner Way intersects with Farm-to-Market 1863 west of FM 3009 between Sherri Lea and Running Deer Drive, near Buiverde.The auburn/brown hair of the corpse was approximately 18 inches long, said Tommy Ward, Comal County criminal investigator. Abluish-purple hair tie was found in her hair, along with a silver barrette.“Her fingernails were painted pink,” Ward said. Her toenails were not painted.The victim might have worn size five shoes, said sheriffs officials. A pair of shoes that size were found at the crime scene but not close to the body, Ward said.Toxicology reports on the victim were not available from the Travis County medical examiner’s office Tuesday. Those reports could be available later this week.Students walking from a bus stop at FM 1863 and Roadrunner Way were the first to notice buzzards in the area and told their parents, who in turn notified sheriffs officials, Comal County deputies said.Criminal investigators reported to the scene soon after and spent several hours videotaping and photographing the body, gathering evidence and removing the body from a brushy area approximately 150 feet off FM 1863.Anyone with information about this apparent crime or any other cancall Crime Stoppers at 620-8477.Callers do not have to leave theirnames.
