He made a visit to Chicago, over the',week end^and* tbbk..the' bread-' with* him. When he’ aiigxted from the Chicago train last evening the polios 3uspected him as .bringing booze into the. city.. They followed- him and he kepc in the clear irntil he reached, the Home restaurant on Third,-.street.;- then it is soppoeed that theAoad' became, too heavy and his pursuers too close forat that place he dropped the suit case and ran.: Patrolman l^ambert shot in the afr to scare Frese. but Frese answered by turning and shooting at the policeman. He thezi ran again. The bullet from Frese’s gun wbizred very close to Lambert’s face. The suitcase which had been dropped was taken to police headquarters. - where - it was j found to contain the four loaves of bread which concealed the four quarts of whiskey. ...The police arrested. Frese at his home on Twelfth soon after he reached there. He is held.'in jail on'two cbarges—violating the state prohibition law and. shooting with intent to kill.
