The jury at Waterloo in the case of Burk vs. the Creamery Package Manufacturing Co. returned a sealed verdict in which it is understood they found for the plaintiff in the sum of $1,150, $1,000 being the amount prayed for in the petition. Last summer Harry Burk, a milk hauler from the County Line creamery, coming iu off his route, picked up a jug which he supposed contained buttermilk. Before he could he warned he drauk n quantity of the contents, which proved to bo an acid preparation put up by the Creamery Package Manufacturing Co. for cleaning and cleansing chums ami creamery machinery. From the effects of the poison the young man died in terrible agony a few hours later. His father, Henry Burk, was ap|toiuted administrator of his estate and he lilt'd two suits against the defendnut company for damage*. The principal suit is for $20.-000 and it will he tried in the United States Court at Cedar Kapids. The second suit was for $l,.r»00 and it Is this suit which has just been completed in the Black Hawk County Court.
