HKOWNWOOI) MAN HKLI) IN SIIOOTINCSTwo seperato charges of assaultwith intent to murder were filedMonday against Burl K Horton of Brownwood. He was taken into custody Sunday night by Paul Good and Frank Keesee after two unprovoked shootings on the San Angelo-Robert Lee highway.Victims of the shootings, Mr. and Mrs B. A. Austin of Robert Lee and Mr. and Mrs Victor McCabe of Colorado City, were unhurt except for minor sijalches received by Mr Austin.According tlt;» Austin, he and his wife were coining from San Angelo in their late model Fo;d andsaw a car parked m the left hand barrow ditch. As they appmaeh-ed. the man got out of the car and leveled a shot gun at them. The Austins speeded up, but a shot was fired at the window on the drivers sale ami several shots went through where the window was lowered.The Austins pioeeeded to a raneh house and called authorities and Sheriff Paul (hod and Deputy Frank Keesee met Tom Green officers at the scene. About two hours later. Horton wn lt;ni up by Good and Keesee and taken to Robert Lee where the Austins identified him as the man who shot at them. He was taken to the county jail in San Angelo and charges filed Monday. After a preliminary hearing bond was at $4,000 on each of the charges.
