Feb. 15.—Friends*n the mountains will furrjsh financial assistance to George and Decatur Crawley to defend their cases in the United States district court for conspiracy in connection with the death of Ben F. Dixon, deputy U. S. marshal, who was shot and killed in th homo of George Crawley, when lie went to arrest him on a charge of deserting from Camp Gordon.Similar aid will also he given Blaine Stuart, cousin of the brothers, as. well as Felix and Frank Crawley, their brothers, who were surrounded by a posse of soldiers and arrested' in. their mountain home in Union county a few days prior to the.capture of George and Decatur Crawley and Blaine Stuart.The five boys are now confined inthe Fulton county 1a1l awaitingtrial in the United States district court for the northern district of Georgia. George and Decatur, although charged with killing Deputy Dixon, cannot be tried on a charge of murder in the federal court because the shooting did not take place on a government reservation.
