And Will Ppend a Paw!Waeke In the Sooiety ofthe Sheriff.P, ' . Some four yean ago Mr. DanielBowen taw, loved and married Mias Catharine A. Haley who* lived somewhere near Monroeville.liftTheir married life passed along pleasantly and matters ran in the-usual channel, the same as other married people, and two children are the fauita of the union—the youngest being some ten mouths old.In' the same town of Monroeville lives a man by the name of WilliamMincer. He is a mincer only in name, for where women are concerned1 „he never minces matters. He also enjoyed considerable notoriety some few months ago through the newspapers where fce was charged with deserting his wife and three children; and leaving them to the cold charities of the world. Hie wife attempted suicide but was caught in the nick of time and the deed prevented. Mincer does not appear to enjoy the most enviable reputation in the world, and his fellow townsmen have nothing gopdto say concerning him.Yesterday Bowen was at work as usual, and on going home to dinner found his wife absent. He asked his brother’s wife where Oassy (meaning his wife,) was, and was informed that she had gone to “Wayne.” He thought nothing of the matter and supposed she would be home on the accommodation, which arrives at Monroeville about five o’clock. But at supper time she was still absent, yand he feared she had missed the train, and knowing her to be without money, he became anxious for her and concluded to come up and seek for her. He jumped on the first freight train and came to this city. He first went to a brother of Mrs. Bowers, who resides in Bloom-ingdale, but ahe was not th*r«. Helearned that Mincer had come to town on the same train, and he commenced to have misgivings as to the whereabouts of his wife. But he went around among his and her friends to satisfy himself that she was all right and in safe company, but found her not. He then went to the police station, and officer Doyle was detailed to look (he matter up. They proceed-ed to the house of Lew Clark, corner of Calhoun and Water streets, and found that a couple answering the description had secured a room there, and had retired. This jraa about 11:30 last night. The officer and Bowser at once proceeded to the room and a rap on the door brought Mincer to the front dressed in the costume of a Georgia major, minus the shirt collar. An investigationshowed Mis. Bowses in bed and that Mincer had occudied a place Jby her side. They were given time to dress aad were then brought to the Btation house and locked up in cells. This morning the hiisbnd told his stoty to the mayor and tears stood in his eyes as he recited his wrongs, while the wife was is unconcerned as though ahe had nothing to,do with the matter. Mincer also has the cheek of a mule and they both pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them without a blush.Bowers says he bad been told that Mincer was in the habit of. calling on hi* Wife but never suspected that she would be guilty of such outrageous conduct and so he never said a word. The mayor fined them $15 eapfa or to go to jail for twenty days. A Monroeville man was hunted up but herefused to bail them and they wenta Iover. This will have the' effect to break up two families—leaving Bowers withtwo children and leaving Mrs. Mincerwith three to provide for. Surely the.way of the transgressor is hard.
