The Rochester Sentinel has the following account of a new method of swindling: Last week one day, a rather smooth looking fellow went to the residence of Frank Han-| noil’s near Fulton and offered to re-I lieve Mr. Ranneils of the rheumatism, from which he has been a threat sufferer for seven 1 years, for the modest sum of $oOf claiming that he was an Indian doctor and traveling partner of Dr. Wau-ke-maugh, of this city. Mr. fiannells agreed to deposit $50 In the bank to the credit of the stranger to be paid when he was cured, but this was not satisfactory to the party of the first part as he insisted on cash for treatment. By some means the stranger succeeded in inducing Mr. Raunells to give him a few dollars and went to the residence of Sam’l Fry, near by, where he made the same representation as at Rantiell’s and tried hard to be permitted to treat a sick child, citing as reference, Mr. Ranneils, whom he claimed to have almost miraculously cured. The stranger’s services were refused and a messenger at once dispatched to neighbor Itan-nell’s to inquire concerning nis phenomenal physical improve* ment, but this w*as found to be utterly false, and hearing of the pretended doctor’s crooked conduet, Ezra Ranneils, a son of the sick man, started in pursuit of the rascal and, overtaking him at Mud-creek sawmill, offered him the choice of giving his father’s money back or taking a thumping, and the crook readily accepted the for* r and also agreed to leave the hborhood instanter, whllt;
