Bandit Slain In Holdup of SupermarketSIOUX CITY (AP)-A Minneapolis man who was once sought on the FBI's list of the 10 most wanted men, was killed by a policeman’s bullets and a companion was captured in an attempt to rob a supermarket here Thursday night.Holding a sack containing $3,303 in loot Jack Delaney, 35, tried to shoot his way out of the Sunshine Store in downtown Sioux City, three blocks away from the police station.Killed By DetectiveDelaney was killed by Det. Earl Schmidt, a top marksman in the police department, and his companion, Donald Carlson, 26, also of Minneapolis, dropped his gun and surrendered. .Both men had been wearing masks.Carlson’s wife, Patricia, 21, had been waiting in their car across the street. She was captured.During the exchange of gunfire between Delaney and Schmidt an assistant store manager,' Ray E. Dicks, was shot in the leg. He suffered from loss of blood but was reported in fair condition in a hospital.Another store' employe, George Taminga, 24, was injured during the skirmish.
