tDEAD MAN BELONGED TO ANARCHISTIC PARTY(From Friday’s Dally Courier.) The Ventura Democrat says:MrrMttTwo small bottles containing a dark brown liquid, taken In connection with certain sentiment expressed in a private memorandum book found among the effects of a man found dead on the Southern Pacific right of way, three miles west of town, might be taken to indicate that he was ananarchist. The liquid was said by an oflleer present at the inquest yesterday afternoon to resemble ‘soup,’ or liquid dynamite used by safe blowers.“The sentiment expressed in the handwriting of the unfortunate man who lost his life beneath a pile of ties in Tuesday morning’s storm, was to the effect that Spies, Fischer and a number of the other anarchists who were executed for the Haymarket demonstration in Chicago some 30 years ago were beloved heroes.Undertaker Reardon, who has charge of the effects of the dead man, handles the bottles resembling nitroglycerine a great deal more delicately than he did when he thought their contents Worcestershire, Tabasco, or possibly sleep dope.At the inquest held yesterday aft* ernoon at the Reardon undertaking parlors, it was brought out tost thedead man was Francesco Roim, aged 3f years, apparently an Italian andresident of America since 1911, when he arrived at San Francisco. This was all shown in a passport issued to Rohll somewhere in Austria-Hungary. The passport bore date of January, 1911; it was stamped at the Austrian-Hungary consulate in February of that year, showing that the bearer had made a speedy journey from the Austrian province in which he had taken out his traveling paper Notes in a memorandum book, poll tax receipts, etc., told the Jury that Rohli had worked in many places, from Humboldt county to San Diego. He was a cleanly sort of a person, according to the testimony of Undertaker Reardon; careful in attire and neat in his clothing. He was thrifty, judging from the manner in which his effects were kept, but not a cent of money was found upon his body. He had a watch, knife and scissors and numerous almanacs, steamship schedules and also clippings from metropolitan newspapers. Noticeable among these were clipped sentiment of an anarchistic nature. ,“The jury found that Bohli died as ^ I the result of an accident, ties falling 1 I upon him while asleep.“The witnesses examined were Fred Hartman, who had seen a man, very 3 likely Rohli, in the improvised shack B of ties Monday evening; Bernardo Allin of Dulah, who found the body Tuesday morning.”-o-it
