Fayette Grocer Removed From Stamp ProgramA Fayette County grocer, Rubin Puryear, who was acquitted in. Federal Court on a charge of giving cash for food stamp coupons, has been disqualified from participation in the Federal Food Stamp Program because of violations.The U. S. Department of Agriculture announced today that Puryear, owner of Euretta and Preston Market in Oak Hill, is disqualified for a year dating from Nov. 15, 1968, because he allegedly accepted food coupons in exchange for cash, accepted food coupons for ineligible items, accepted food coupons in payment of back bills and gave change in the form of cash in food coupon transactions.At the end if the year Puryear will be permitted to apply for reinstatement and, if approved, will be issued a new authorization and number.At his trial in Federal Court in Beckley last summer Puryear was found innocent of a charge that he gave $8 in cash for $10 m coupons. He was not tried on the other violations of which h* is accused.
