Powetf, Gausman rented an auro-mobilc for two days from cn agency in Iowa in September, 1949, and abandoned it four months later in New Orleans. Vlt bare Louisiana license plates issued to Warren Lee Scott.at a fictitious Baton Rouge address. Investigation brought out that Powell and Scott were Gausman aliases. A stream of Gausman-forged checks in New Orleans totaling $900 crowned Gausman's Louisiana visit and he is still at large. Since that time, he is known to have been in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Iowa. 'l-Gausman completed high school, but poses as a man of higher education. He is boastful, a big spender and night club entertainer. 'Has made claims of being an Air Force veteran. Has’ worked as laborer, mechanic, draftsman, cook and railroad sec-’ lion hand. Previous convictions include forgery and attempted larceny.
