Lawrence Zehner, 4(t Killed Instantly on Phila. St.——v-Struck by an automobile while he was crossing Philadelphia street, just beyond the Eleventh street intersection, Wednesday evening at 7:30 o’clock, Lawrence Ray Zehner, 41, of 1251 Church street was killed instantly. Driver of the automobile,Clair E. Fulmer, 17, of Indiana, R. D. 1, told Superintendent of Police Luke Kelly that he was driving his err not more than 40 miles an hour and that he had made an effort to avoid striking the pedestrian.The impact of the car hurled Mr. Zehner 30 feet, his body being wedged under a parked automobile, police said. Superintendent Kelly said that^there was an eye-witness to the tragedy and that the Fulmer car could not be brought to a stop lor 198 feet. Seaman James Edward Wilson of Indiana, was an occupant oi the Fulmer car,Edward L. Fleming, M, D., attributed Zehner’s death to a crushed fi-est, fracture of the skull, fractures of both legs and a fracture of the left arm.Placed under arrest, young Fulmer is ir. the County Jail. Coroner Fleming stated that he would conduct an inquest at the Court House next Monday at 7:30 p. m. Superintendent Kellj' said that afterwards he would prefer information against Fulmer charging him with involun-lary manslaughter.* A son of Charles F. and Margaret .Blanche (.Ray) Zehner, the de-l ceased was born September 22, 1902.1 He was the husband of Elizabeth { I McIntyre) Zehner, jThe bpdy jvqs removed to the Rob- | iuson ij .uwi'ai Home.
