Mrs. Mamie Alice Roadcap, wife of Charles Robert Roadop, the man who was yesterday found guilty of vol mtarv manslaughter in stabbing Philip Ritchie, is the complainant in a divorce suit in which the husband’s cruelty is alleged as a ground for the dissolution of her marital bonds. The suit bs been pending for a little more than four years, during which time Roodcap has filed an answer denying the wife’s charges, and a cross-bill m which he makes charges.In the event that yesterday’s verdict stands and the prisoner goes to the penitentiary, Mrs. Roadcapmay speedily procure her freedomby taking advantage of the statute that provides that where either pirty to the marriage is sentenced to the penitentiary the other becomes entitled to a divorce upon proof of such sentence.In her bill of complaint Mrs. Roadcap represents that on January 15, 1902, when little more than 1year8 old, she was married in, Hagorstown, Md , to defendant, the' marriage being what is commonly known as a '‘runaway.”Complainant says she soon bad occasion to bitterly regret her rash and illconsidered marriage. Her husband proved to be without any means for her support an they were forced to live around from place to place, just wherever they could find accommodating friends or relatives to funish temporary assistance.
