Walsh announced today.According to Walsh, McDonald fiada affidavit that he was not able k identify Mooney and that he did to in his testimony at the trial only tf the instance of District Attorney jTlckert of San Francisco.McDonald's affidavit, Walsh said, was telegraphed to San Francisco where n special grand Jury Is infest igrtting the Mooney rase. Mooneywas convicted of murder— nine portions were killed when a bomb was ) exploded during a preparedness day parade in 1912—and was sentenced to die. President Wilson Interceded In his behalf and the sentence was commuted to Ufa imprlaonment. Warren K. Billings also 1* serving a life terra for implication in the explosion. McDonald’s statement says his identification of Billings was also falsaMcDonald told Walsh, It waa said, that he was promised a share In the $17,500 rsward offered for ths dynamiters In exchange for his testimony.After tho trial ha said he triedto collect, but has never been able to get the money.
