Police Court.—It wasn't a bad showing, that of yesterday. We have seen many a morning when there wasn’t half as many cases as yesterday. There were three of them.Hugh Harris was arresteJ for wal-lopping Mrs.H. Hughey is the queerest old pill in the box. Whenever he gets his tough old hide full he feels so funny that be wanders off home to Lave Mrs. Harris enjoy life with him. When he gets where she is his mirth is so boisterous and affecting that he throws out his arms, and his fists stop on the eye or mouth of the partner ot his joys, and she is apt to sit down on the floor to think it all over, and won der where the laugh comes in. And when she don’t appear to see it, Hughey will tickle her in the riba with the toe of his stoga boot, or wave a rolling pin ora piece of fence rail^around her head, stopping it occasionally on her chignon by way of a joke. Then if she can’t see the fun of it, he stands on her back and dances and has a real jolly time. He’s a rough old joker, Hughey is, but he’s always playing his tricks on the “old woman/' He tried this kind of joking on the woman who lives next door to him, on Tuesday afternoon, but she couldn’t take a joke, and came pretty near cracking Hughey’s skull with a hatchet. Then he lost his temper. lie got mad. He wouldn’t stay in that house any longer. He went back into his own abode and remonstrated with Mrs. Harris on having such neighbors. lie lovingly smashed her over the head three or four times, and she bad him arrested. Judge Good fined him $10 and costs or twenty days, but in consideration of his promise to leave the State and not return for one year, judgment was suspended, and with a clean shirt and a light heart Hugh will leave West Virginia this morning.
