The boy will recover. It is possible that Hickey also cut his own throat, before the shooting —his head is so badly mutilated by the shots that it will never be known. The tragedy occurred at 8 o’clock this morning in Hickey’s little four-room shack on Bryan avenue, In Park place on the outskirts of the city,It was the blow-up” that the po lice have always known wrould comtsometime. Violent-tempered, a dealer in crime, and a **bad“ man. Hickey was marked as one who some day wrould provide the newspapers with one last, big story.Boy Tells of Murder.Randall, a bright little chap, fosterson of Hickey, who wras white, and his negro wife, told the story of the murder, an hour after it happened. The boy waa lying on a couch at thehome of neighbors, Mr. end Mr*. J.P. McWilliams, who live across the street, not more then a hundred yards from the Hickey home. The boy was stil| partially dased. He-wras struck a glancing blow on theside of the head by Htokey*e ax. Had the blow struck squarely, Hickey would have had two murders on Mesoul when he died.Terrified and bewildered, the boy sobbed as he told the story.“Never mind, honey,” crooned Mr*.McWilliams. “You can come right here and live with me. The McWilliams are colored, also.Comforted, the boy told bis story to County Attorney Harold E. Hickey turned end struck at the boy, again using the blunt end of the ax. knocking the lad unconscious. The rest of the story is pieced together. While the boy wras unconscious. it appears that Hickey cut hie throat with a razor, while standing in the kitchen near the fallen boy. This theory is adduced by the discovery of e blood-soaked razor lying near a pool of blood, wrhile nearby was a blood-stained shirt, as If it had been used to staunch the flow of blood from a wound.
